The Red-tailed Black-cockatoo (Calyptorhynchus banksii) is a striking and iconic bird native to Australia, easily recognized by its glossy black feathers and vibrant red tail panels, which are especially prominent in males. These large parrots inhabit a variety of environments, from forests and woodlands to arid inland regions. Known for their loud, screeching calls and strong, curved beaks, red-tailed black-cockatoos feed primarily on seeds, nuts, and fruits. They are highly social, often seen in pairs or small flocks. While some populations are stable, others are threatened by habitat loss and fragmentation, making conservation efforts increasingly important.
