The Gouldian Finch is a beautiful bird native to the tropical savannahs and woodlands of northern Australia. They are very social and often found in small flocks, foraging for seeds and grasses, or at water sources. Despite their beauty, they face conservation challenges due to habitat loss and changes in fire management practices. Their populations have declined significantly for many decades, and are now considered a vulnerable species. Efforts to protect them focus on habitat restoration and the management of fire regimes to maintain the delicate balance of their ecosystem.
