Greg Oakley
Australian Bird & Wildlife Artist
Greg Oakley is an award-winning Australian wildlife artist specialising in highly detailed, realist paintings of birds and other wildlife. With a professional background spanning more than four decades in illustration, graphic design and art direction, his paintings combine meticulous observation, technical precision and a lifelong fascination with the natural world.
Growing up in Australia, Greg developed an early passion for birds and wildlife that continues to shape his work. Drawing on decades of field observation and wildlife photography, he creates carefully composed paintings that explore not only the beauty and character of his subjects, but also their vulnerability in an increasingly changing environment.
Working primarily in acrylic on Claybord, his paintings draw inspiration from the great natural history illustrators, traditional wildlife artists and Old Masters. His work seeks to bridge the traditions of natural history illustration and contemporary fine art, inviting viewers to consider our relationship with the natural world.
