Wildlife Fine Artist
About me
I’ve been obsessed with the natural world since early childhood, and I’ve spent over 40 years working as an artist and designer.
My practice is hyperrealistic: I build images feather by feather, hair by hair - mapping light, form and anatomy so the animal feels truly present. I look back to the great wildlife artists of the 17th, 18th and 19th centuries—think the observational rigor of Merian, the ambition of Audubon and Gould and the romanticism of the Dutch masters—where art and natural science met on the canvas.
That tradition anchors how I work today, favouring acrylic paint as my medium of choice. I’m especially drawn to birds, often Australian species, aiming for truthful colour, clean edges and calm, purposeful compositions.
Each piece is a small act of respect—for the subject, and for the places it depends on. If the work slows you down long enough to really see the animal—and what we stand to lose—then it’s doing its job.
